Library Hours Extended for Undergraduate Finals

The Library will be open longer throughout the Undergraduate College's finals to meet your late night research and studying needs. Hours will be extended as follows:

Saturday, April 27: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM;
Sunday, April 28: 1:00 PM - 2:00 AM;
Monday, April 29 - Wednesday, May 1: 8:30 AM - 2:00 AM;
Thursday, May 2 - Friday, May 3: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM;
Saturday, May 4: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM;
Sunday, May 5: CLOSED
Monday, May 6 - Friday, May 10: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM;
Saturday, May 11: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM;
Sunday, May 12: CLOSED
 

Game Night at the Library!

Need to unwind before Reading Day? Come to the library for our Game Night on Friday, April 26^th from 6:00-8:00pm. Play board games, cards, and Minute it to Win It (Library edition) for the most coveted prize on campus. Laundry Money! Use it before you leave or save it for next year. We are giving away a bucket full of quarters. First come first served. Games include Checkers, Uno, Cards, Pictionary, and a very special edition of Minute it to Win It created by the staff of GKML. Snacks included.

Library Hosts St. John's Bible Presentation

On April 17^th the Gertrude Kistler Memorial Library hosted a presentation by David Allaway on the creation of the St. John’s Bible. In 1998 St. John’s Abbey and University in Minnesota commissioned Donald Jackson, world famous calligrapher and scribe to the Queen of England, to create a hand-written and illustrated Bible. The St. John’s Bible is one of a kind; connecting traditional artistry with modern technology.

David, a former associate of fashion designer Donna Karan, spoke beautifully of the creation of the St. John’s Bible from its inception to its current world tour. A BBC documentary (which will soon be available at the library!) was shown, followed by a powerpoint presentation and finally the showing of the Heritage Edition (an abbreviated copy of the original Bible). Students, faculty, staff, and friends of the College gathered together to view the unique beauty of the “finest book ever printed using modern technology.”

SHCJ Commemorative Quilt on Display at the Library

A quilt made to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus' arrival in America is on display in the Main Reading Room of Gertrude Kistler Memorial Library. The quilt features 70 squares celebrating the history and heritage of the SHCJ made by members of the Society and alumnae and associates of the SHCJ schools and ministries, including a square representing the College made by Rosemont's own Executive Director of Library Services, Cathy Fennell. The quilt will be on display through Reunion Weekend in June.

Open to all students. Submit photographs of yourself or others reading around campus. Be creative! The winning image will be displayed at the Library and the winning photographer will receive a $50 cash prize.
